There has been a rapid increase in use of online social media and as a result online social networks are increasing in numbers. Facebook being the most popular social network of all time is not the only one out there to attract people. Now some of the most rapidly growing social platforms include “Instagram“, “SnapChat” and “Pinterest“.
These platforms allows a person to directly communicate with millions of people across the globe. Anyone can share their opinions, beliefs and interests with virtually no consequences. But is it true that all these free social platforms have no consequences at all. With this a very thought provoking quotation comes in my mind by a blogger named “Andrew Lewis” saying :

“Facebook“, “Youtube” and “Instagram” are the most widely used social platforms these days but most of the Pakistani spending a lot of their time on these sites don’t have slightest of idea why these platforms are free to use. They don’t know that we are living in an information era and everything today is about marketing. Every person on facebook or instagram posting their pictures eating pizza or watching movies or hanging out with friends are actually trying to market themselves in their social circle. At the same time our contributions are virtually zero to all these platforms of 21st century and the people out there, the big business giants, like Mark Zuckerberg and Kavin Sytrom, they don’t care for the people who are contributing so little to current global scenario except for some negative aspects of today’s world.
I’m not being negative or pessimistic, in fact, i’m a very optimistic person but i also believe in “meritocracy” and i believe world will hear you if you bring value to them or you have some contributions. So, right now, we need to educate our people, especially youth about this changing global scenario and the changing values so we can prepare ourselves for the revolution that is coming with this flood of information.
