CATS – Musical with all CGI fur

Cat lovers are around us everywhere. Cats even get to have their specific Tweet days (e.g. Saturday is Caterday). So, this movie is suppose to be special for those cat lovers & ofcourse, their friends and families.

“CATS” Is directed by Tom Hooper, Academy Award winning director of “Les Miserables” and “King’s Speech”. It is musical based on Andrew Llyoyd Webber’s musical (Possum’s Book of Practical cats).

“CATS” stars Taylor Swift (Bombalurina), Francesca Haywerd (Victoria), Jennifer Hudson (Grizabella), Ian Mckellen (Gus the theater Cat), James Corden (Bustopher Jones), Idris Elba (Macavity) and Judi Dench (Old Deuteronomy).

With all the star cast and director, the trailer doesn’t help the movie at all. The background music is good. The CGI looks a little off at some point while good at others. The shots are not coherent with music at some points. I thought that trailer couldn’t give any hint of what the movie is about other than some dancing cats. The trailer implies that movie lack soul (which it might or might not) and as a result is unable to convince me to go and pay to watch it.

I think they focused more on CGI and looks of movie rather than the story building. Still hoping it to be an entertaining journey and I think cat lovers should definitely give it a chance.
